Murray trained as a solicitor with a large firm in Kent. On qualification he specialised in Corporate and Commercial work and joined Sheridans as Head of Corporate in 2000, negotiating and implementing corporate deals for entertainment and media clients, including leading the corporate department on Robbie Williams’ ground breaking deal and joint venture with EMI. He also established and developed a successful new office for Sheridans in Surrey, providing a legal and business advisory service to all business sectors.
Murray joined Callaghans as Head of Corporate in 2007, predominantly focusing on all aspects of Corporate Finance, including mergers and acquisitions, disposals, Management Buyouts (MBOs), Management Buy Ins (MBIs), private equity investment, debt investment, venture capitalist funding and investment and re-organisations. He also deals with flotations and fund-raising on the Plus and AIM markets and has particular expertise dealing with joint ventures, IT companies and related contracts. Murray was the lead lawyer on the first AIM listing for a firm based in Surrey. In addition, Murray acts for a variety of private and public companies (in the UK and US), venture capitalists, private and public banks as well as clients and individuals from the entertainment and private sectors.
Murray prides himself on providing clear and commercial solutions to complex problems. Clients describe how "the direction and advice given by Murray through very tricky issues is excellent and succinct" how "the level of effort put in to ensure the deadline was met was truly awesome".
Murray is a keen runner and has participated in a number of runs including the Great South Run and the Brighton Marathon raising over £5000 for various charities in the last year.
